THEME

"Do we sleep? I don’t know. We spend the night holding each other, in some halfway land between dreams and waking. Not talking. Both afraid to disturb the other in the hope that we’ll be able to store up a few precious minutes of rest."

"I sat down with Lorde on the set of ‘Mockingjay’ this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film. Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack. I can’t wait to share what she’s done with the fans — it is truly remarkable."

Our leader, the Mockingjay.

Though they fought and lived with honor and dignity until the end, both Thresh and Rue, were so young. But our lives aren’t just measured in years. They’re measured in the lives of people we touch around us. For myself, for Katniss, we know that without Rue and without Thresh we wouldn’t be standing here today. So in recognition of that, knowing that it in no way can make up for your loss. We’d like to donate one month of our winnings to the families of the tributes, every year, for the rest of our lives.

"I am a feminist. I’ve been female for a long time now. I’d be stupid not to be on my own side."

Are you fighting, Katniss?

"So yeah, at least domestically speaking, Hunger Games will likely end its four-film run as the most consistently successful franchise in modern cinematic history. It did so with a female in the lead, with a story that explicitly criticized modern day bread-and-circuses politics, without a 3D bump, and with a marketing campaign that didn’t feel the need to spoil or even reveal all that much about the films being advertised.” - Forbes (x)
